History and Culture of Santa Ponsa

Santa Ponsa has a rich history. Jaume I landed here in 1229 to start his conquest of Mallorca. The cove where he landed is called Sa Caleta. The place is now home to Santa Ponsa Marina. Since 1929, it has been marked with a large stone cross to remember this historical event.

Festes del Rei en Jaume is the main event in Santa Ponsa. It is a celebration of King Jaume I conquest that dates back to 1229. The event is held at the end of August every year and the key attraction is the mock battle between the Christians and the Moors. It is typically held on Saturday.

There is a direct bus line from the airport. Taxis are also available. With both options, you don’t need to travel to Palma first.
